Bristol South Information

Welcome to the Bristol South information corner. Here you can find information about Bristol South.

If you live in Bristol and are registered to vote, you will be mailed a polling card before elections telling you which local polling station you should go to in order to vote. If you want to see what constituency you live in, you can use this finder with your postcode.

In rough terms, Bristol South includes the urban area between the River Avon, the A37 (Wells Road), Dundry Hill, and the A38/A370 roads. It includes the Council wards of Bedminster, Bishopsworth, Filwood, Hartcliffe, Hengrove, Knowle, Southville, Whitchurch Park and Windmill Hill.

Bristol South has been Labour for generations. But at the 2005 General Election, the Liberal Democrats came second for the first time ever. The Lib Dems came a close 2nd again in the 2010 General Elections, but fell back in the 2015 and 2017 General Elections. However, after the Brexit referendum they have surged in support and are now at record membership, and in the Metro Mayor elections on May 4th 2017 came 2nd again in Bristol South!

The Lib Dems are fighting back in Bristol South (Metro Mayor result in May 2017)

Over the last decade the Lib Dems have won former Labour strongholds in local elections across Bristol South - they are the challenger to Labour. The Conservatives have had no success here.

Now the Lib Dems are challenging Labour. Our next MP will be a Lib Dem, or yet another Labour MP. The Lib Dems really can win here. All it needs is for enough of you - the voters - to decide to vote for the Lib Dems and we will have a strong new MP who will always put Bristol South first.
