In rough terms, Bristol South includes the urban area between the River Avon, the A37 (Wells Road), Dundry Hill, and the A38/A370 roads. It includes the Council wards of Bedminster, Bishopsworth, Filwood, Hartcliffe, Hengrove, Knowle, Southville, Whitchurch Park and Windmill Hill.

Elections

Bristol South has been Labour for generations. But at the 2005 General Election, the Liberal Democrats came second for the first time ever. Then, at the 2010 Generl Election, Dr Mark Wright took the Lib Dems to their best ever result in the seat - slashing the Labour majority and turning the formerly "safe" Labour seat into a "Marginal" one. Now, for the first time in generations, Labour are under threat - the Lib Dems are the only challenge to Labour in Bristol South.

Last Election Results

The Lib Dems came second here last time

The Conservatives will try to pretend they can win here, but don't believe them - they couldn't even win here in Margaret Thatcher's landslide win in 1983. Nor could they win here in 1987 when Dawn Primarolo betrayed her own MP, Michael Cocks, and snatched his job. The Conservatives will NEVER win here.

For several years now the Lib Dems have been winning former Labour strongholds in local elections across Bristol South. The Conservatives have had no success here.

Number of Councillors

The Lib Dems and Labour have the most councillors

Now the Lib Dems are challenging Labour. Our next MP will be popular Lib Dem Mark Wright, or Labour's Dawn Primarolo who has let us down enough already. The Lib Dems really can win here. All it needs is for enough of you - the voters - to decide to vote for Mark Wright and the Lib Dems and we will have a strong new MP who will always put Bristol South first.

Remember to make the "Wright" choice for Bristol South
